Emma grew up in Canada, trained as a primary teacher and then taught for several years in other countries before settling in New Zealand with her Christchurch-born husband.
While raising their sons, she gained experienced in early childhood through doing home-based childcare, being involved in Playcentre and doing relief teaching in ECE.
A love of plants, a belief in the benefits of education in nature and an interest in child development led Emma to start her own business doing nature-based playground design. She loves working with Schools and Early Childhood Services to create outdoor spaces that are beneficial for children’s development and learning. She believes natural play spaces offer diverse play opportunities and are great for children’s physical and mental health.
