Behaviour Through a Kaleidoscope Lens
Behaviour Through a Kaleidoscope Lens, is Ruth’s inclusive analogy depicting her belief that it is our responsibility to view tamariki positively, and celebrate them as vibrant, colourful taonga each with a treasure chest full of amazing, diverse, traits and attributes. With a kaleidoscope, the colours and patterns shift constantly, creating a myriad of fabulous views and perspectives, just as our mokopuna do. Engaging with each and every tamaiti is our absolute privilege.

About the course
This discussion focuses on adopting an empathetic lens when responding
to behaviour, being curious, thoughtful, and attuned to the needs of
tamariki, as well as the potential triggers behind their actions.
When considering our response, it’s essential to reflect on our role in supporting tamariki to feel seen, secure, and valued.
Our approach should uphold their mana and create conditions that set them up for success.
