About the resource
Indigenising
practice is about more than adding Māori words, songs or cultural activities to
your programme. It involves developing an understanding of te ao Māori, te reo
Māori and tikanga Māori, and considering how these can be meaningfully woven
through everyday ECE practice.
This collection provides three resources to support that journey. Explore karakia and waiata, build your understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi within an ECE context, and discover how maramataka Māori can inform learning, wellbeing and planning. Together, these resources encourage kaiako to learn, reflect and apply – strengthening the ways te reo Māori, tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti-based practice are lived within the ECE environment.
