About the course

This two-part webinar begins by examining how to nurture the foundational skills and physical readiness children need for writing.

In the first module, we’ll explore how playful, hands-on experiences and intentional curriculum design can support fine motor control, coordination, and the pre-writing abilities that set tamariki up for success.

The second module takes us through the developmental stages of writing—from the earliest marks and scribbles to fluent, confident composition—highlighting the key physical, cognitive, and creative milestones that shape each step of the journey.

AMANDA - NZ CRAYONS
While Amanda has decades of experience in science, innovation and technology she has found herself on the outskirts of Tauranga as a crayon factory owner.
The Retsol brand of crayons has been around since after WW2 when disabled returned soldiers (Ret – Sol) made crayons in bullet moulds. She and her husband continue to make giant and standard size industrial and education crayons for New Zealand Australian customers but in the last year Amanda has turned her interests to crayons for pre-schoolers.
Her own children are now young men so its been with interest and concern that she has seen how gross and fine motor skill development is changing how young children enter school and how it effects their literacy skills.
