About the resource
This collection is designed to help kaiako embed te reo
Māori and tikanga Māori across a wide range of everyday early childhood
experiences. Resources include te reo Māori vocabulary, action words and
everyday phrases, as well as waiata that can be incorporated into the learning
experience.
The resources also encourage kaiako to think more deeply about how learning can reflect concepts such as whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, rangatiratanga, ako, kaitiakitanga and whakapapa. Together, the brochures provide a practical starting point for building confidence with te reo Māori, strengthening culturally responsive practice and creating meaningful opportunities for tamariki to learn through familiar activities and experiences.
