About the resource
Te reo
Māori is a taonga tuku iho (a treasure handed down) and is an important part of
the cultural identity and heritage of Aotearoa. This series provides
opportunities to build a growing vocabulary repertoire, while also developing
understanding of how words and phrases can be used in meaningful contexts.
For kaiako working in early childhood settings, the collection includes a dedicated Everyday reo Māori – ECE Setting booklet, alongside a broader classroom-language resource. These provide practical language for everyday interactions, instructions, events, routines and learning experiences. The collection also moves beyond individual vocabulary into language structures and grammar, including tense markers, possessive pronouns and negation.
