COURSE PRESENTER
Xavia Bennett
Growing up with her great-grandmother, Xavia received all the benefits of learning from her elders, and put them to use helping raise her younger cousins. From a young age, she formed a love for people and knew she wanted to pursue a career in education.
Fast-track to 21 years old (at the time of recording the webinar series), she is in her second year of provisional training as a kaiako in Randwick Park School’s bilingual unit – Nga Manukura – teaching a class of Year 0-4 students.
Xavia was not raised in a Māori-speaking houshold, but felt that something missing. At highschool, she took all opportunities to learn her language and culture, and taught herself online. She has worked her way to a place where she is now more grounded than ever in the knowledge of; who she is, where she comes from, and where she is going.

The desire to help others experience this has led Xavia to create online Te Reo Courses and create a platform where other educators and businesses can source accessible, relevant, and effective PD. She hopes to play an instrumental role in creating a ‘reo-confident’ Aotearoa.
