About the resource
This collection of 15 brochures explores key concepts within tikanga Māori and bicultural practice and shows how they can be meaningfully applied in early childhood education. Each resource introduces a core concept before connecting it to practical curriculum experiences, tikanga practices and questions for kaiako reflection.
Across the collection, you'll explore themes including Te Taiao, taonga tuku iho, ngā tangata tiaki, Ūkaipō, kaitiakitanga, taha tinana, māramatanga, mōhiotanga, mātauranga, rangatiratanga, manaakitanga, kotahitanga, ako and whanaungatanga. The brochures also include practical examples, te reo Māori phrases, waiata, karakia, whakataukī and pronunciation support, helping kaiako connect cultural knowledge with authentic learning, relationships and everyday practice.
