Shona Ua-Marsh
Whatu+Co was founded by Shona Ua-Marsh—mother, grandmother, educator, and lifelong
learner—who is deeply passionate about empowering teachers, parents, and whānau to
confidently engage with Te Reo Māori and Te Ao Māori.
Shona’s vision is rooted in a belief that learning should be hands-on, joyful, and inclusive.
Through Whatu+Co, she has developed engaging resources that make the journey into Māori language and culture both simple and transformative—whether you're teaching in a classroom, learning at home, or supporting Tamariki in your community.
Her own journey of embracing Te Ao Māori has enriched her understanding of identity, connection, and aroha. She knows firsthand the impact that culturally grounded teaching can have—nurturing confidence, pride, and deeper respect for heritage.
Shona believes that by weaving Te Reo Māori into everyday teaching and learning, we are not only honouring our cultural legacy but also inspiring a new generation to carry our traditions forward with curiosity, creativity, and care.
